Before we started using PicPocket Books in the car, we, too had some "car books" but they did get pretty beat up. They'd end up on the floor of the car, and then inevitably someone would step on them with muddy shoes on rainy day. As far as an activity for 2-3 kids, they could always take turns passing the device around whether it was a game playing on the iPhone or a book. The iPhone really is best suited for one person at a time regardless of what you are using it for (phone, games, apps, movies, or reading picture books.) For story time with multiple kids, a print book is still the best time-tried option! PicPocket Books are great for the car. In the past, we would carry books with us, but the condition of the books were severely abused even for a short time in the car. An activity on the iPod that 2-3 children could do could be an idea...is there something like that available?
